This sounds like something that should have been (or maybe is a leftover from) on the Local 717. I like it, but the above mention that it’s not like their OLD stuff is dead on. Bands age and evolve and between that and the personnel change in the band, it’s not surprisingly very different from that Throwing Copper sound that pushed Live to their heights. I also gave only 4 stars as there is definite distance between this and 5 star Live tunes.
The song gets better the more I listen to it. To me, it sounds more like a Live song than Ed's solo work. I'm getting The Distance to Here/V combination vibes. I would love for them to put with a bluesy and/or experimental record. Looking forward to the rest of the album!
Totally agree! It's grown on me too. I don't understand the hate. I only gave it 4 stars because I reserve 5 stars for songs like Mirror Song, Pillar Of Davison, and newer songs like Sweet Release etc. Which reminds me... I should get to reviewing more albums and tracks on this site.
I like the new song, it reminds me of old style live
Listened to the song several times now. I'm not exaclty sure why, but when the song mentioned the water, I got kind of excited. It reminded of my past live songs.
It’s just missing something. It’s no cohesive. It doesn’t flow and it doesn’t make me feel anything.
I appreciate that Ed and the gang are working to bring us fans new music. I also get so excited when they announce anything new no matter how small but I am at a point where as a fan from the very beginning that they are not going to capture that magic again. I am not sure how or why the songs have lost any real emotion or passion but it’s easy to see there is no passion or over powering emotion. It’s just meaningless noise at this point with a great voice. I will always hold hope for the magic to return though and will not stop supporting my favorite band of all time.
Great new track! Took me a couple of listens to get into it but I'm really digging it. Best new track from Live since Birds of Pray! (Local 717 was not good) Love the guitar and the new vibe. Sounds like an awesome track to play live. Really looking forward to hearing more from their new album. It sounds like Ed's really getting into a groove with his new band and I hope more awesome music comes out of the new group.
